International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI)Vacancy AnnouncementPosition: Safeguarding ManagerJob Purpose• The MOYESH Project is dedicated to ensuring a safe environment for all youth and women and other stakeholders who participate in the project on the premise that everyone has the right to freedom from all forms of violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation. icipe adopts zero tolerance to all forms of abuse and expects all its projects and its partners to share similar values. The Safeguarding Manager will lead compliance with icipe’s safeguarding policies and guidelines during implementation of the MOYESH project. S/he will provide guidance and expertise on safeguarding throughout operational areas of the MOYESH project, working closely with related teams to ensure safeguarding is integrated into project operations. She/he will be a member of icipe Ethiopia office which is located at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia).Main Responsibilities:• Leads and oversees the integration of and compliance with icipe’s safeguarding policies and guidelines by project staff and those of partnering institutions in implementation of the MOYESH project• Oversees the recruitment of project partner youth and women to ensure that safeguarding guidelines are observed• Integrates youth, women and other stakeholders safeguarding measures throughout the project including partner selection and ongoing review and due diligence• Oversees MOYESH project procurement, staff recruitment and service contract processes to ensure that safeguarding guidelines are fully complied with• Reviews youth, women and stakeholder safeguarding measures into communications with partner organizations• Manages issues arising related to safeguarding including escalation measures and provides regular progress reports to icipe and the Mastercard Foundation• Serves as the MOYESH project focal person on safeguarding matters and manages associated reporting obligations• Conducts customised training on safeguarding guidelines and procedures to project staff and those of partnering staff who serve as local focal persons- Duty Station: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia- Position level: HG 17- Minimum Base salary: Birr 57,880 per month (Negotiable depending on salary history of the candidate)How to Apply• Applicants should provide a cover letter, a detailed curriculum vitae including names and addresses (including telephone and email) of three referees and a letter providing a point by point response to the essential and desirable person specifications. Educational Requirements
Bachelor's
Desired Skills
Education:
• MA degree or BA degree in social sciences pertaining to social development works, law enforcement, humanitarian assistance and rural development
• In-depth knowledge of the theory and practice law enforcement, social development works and humanitarian assistance
• Relevant professional certification

Experience:
• MA degree and seven years of work experience at senior managerial positions in agriculture or related rural development projects or programs
• BA degree and ten years of work experience at senior managerial positions in agriculture or related rural development projects or programs
• Hands-on experience in the management and supervision of similar development projects
• Multi-tasking skills, with ability to coordinate, prioritize and organize workload, meet deadlines and work under pressure
• Sound experience in stakeholder management
• Proven track record of initiating and developing research for development projects will be an advantage

Skills:
• Ability in incident investigation and applying continuous learning to improve and strengthen safeguarding measures
• Ability to manage conflict and handle sensitive issues with due care
• Excellent interpersonal and listening skills and ability to collaborate with various teams within and outside the project
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel)

Core Competencies:
• Comprehensive understanding of theoretical concepts and principles of safeguarding in rural development settings
• Skilled at identifying and mitigating safeguarding risks
• Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills with the ability to articulate information at various levels
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
