The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo ChurchVacancy Announcement Position: Gender Specialist - Number of Vacant Post: One- Duration of Assignment: One year with possibility of extension on good performance - Salary: Negotiable Job Description• Ensure daily quality implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Gender-based violence• related projects, in particular violence against women and girls, and interventions of the department.• Engage with the refugees and internally displaced community and community representatives to understand needs and gaps in Gender-based violence programming.• Support Gender-based violence cases received at the center and identified in the community through the provision of case management services to respond to the needs of clients, provide them information and resources to access services and make appropriate referrals to other service providers if required.• Incorporate a survivor/client-centered approach in all activities of the organization.• Individual counseling, support groups, life skills workshops, advocacy, case management, crisis intervention, children’s services, recreation, safety and proper referrals.• Home visiting and counseling beneficiaries and researching there situation• Supervise Safe house supporting staff: social workers, general service officers, volunteers, nurses, case workers, etc.• Ensure strict adherence to confidentiality for all case-related information; protect the identities of clients in the design and implementation of all activities.• Assess the knowledge and utilization of health and other services available for survivors of GBV.• Involve in the project design, development, and implementation of Act for Peace supported gender and livelihood gender focused project and other similar project of the department.• Act as Gender/Protection Focal Point for Act for Peace partnership to explore and deliver opportunities for increased gender sensitive and community based protection programming.• Work closely with refugee outreach volunteers in case identification, assessment and related psychosocial supports to clients.• Aware refugees and other community members about the services the office provide and facilitate referrals into and out of the safe house to support clients on GBV protection related needs.• Ensure updated filing and documentation of Gender-based violence cases in line with the Standard Operating Procedures of the office.• Engage in continuous professional development for the purposes of increasing the quality and depth of the department work.• Liaison with other relevant key stakeholders and advocate to address gaps in GBV prevention and response, as well as increase opportunities relating to refugee livelihoods.• Support with monitoring and evaluation of projects, including implementing surveys and analysis.• Recommend and participate in the development of new programs, as needed.• Represent agency to other organizations as assigned.• Abide by EOC-DICAC Code of Conduct, including child safeguarding and PSEA policiesHow to Apply• Interested Applicants can submit their CVs and credential either in person to DICAC head office Human Resource Department located in Addis Ababa at Arat Killo in front of Tourist Hotel or send through P.O.Box 503N.B. • Qualification: MA, M.Sc, and BA Degree in Gender, social work, public health, psychology and related social science fields.
• Experience: A minimum of three (3) years after Mater Degree or five (5) years after BA/BSC degree holders with progressively responsible experience in humanitarian affairs, emergency preparedness, crisis/emergency relief management, rehabilitation, or other related area, is require Humanitarian experience with direct supports to refugees and returnees, emergency situations (complex emergency or natural disaster) is desirable.
• Language: English and Amharic are the working languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, Development and Inter Church Aid Commission. For the position advertised, fluency in English (oral and written) and an addional French, Swahili, or Arabic has an added value
