Summary Statement of Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Camp Manger, the EH Officer will supervise the Environmental Health activities of the camp.by planning detailed work plans, giving capacity building to the camp incentive/social workers.

Educational Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

1.       Planning and Operations

·         Prepare detail work plans (physical plan, budget spending plan , working schedules and procurement plans)  for new open grants in timely manner.

·         Manages projects for smooth implementation of the program as per the prepared detail work plans

·         Ensure that water provided to the refugees meets minimum WHO water quality standards and monitor for presence of optimum dose of residual chlorine at the end user premises 

·         Maintain  consistent and accurate records of implemented activities, generators, submersible pumps, equipment and tools with detail specifications and asset tag numbers

·         Select appropriate sites for water system rehabilitation , new water system construction, hand dug well rehabilitation

·         Design, prepare Bill of Quantities and design drawing and oversee construction of different water systems as identified during assessment and prepared designs (Water and sanitation facilities).

·         Ensure that WASH projects are implemented in a timely and professional manner, according to goal, objectives, and indicators and in line with donor requirements and beneficiary needs;

·         Ensure proper documentation of WASH activities and experience at field office level;

·         Maintain close contact with EH Manager  to ensure effective technical, logistical and management support for all aspects of project implementation;

·          Conduct regular monitoring and technical support visits to project sites;

·         Develop and maintain tools to monitor project progress, financial commitments and expenditures against budgets as necessary.

·          Provide input as required to complete donor reports.

·          Any other duty as assigned by the supervisor

 

2.        Capacity Building Trainings

 

·         In collaboration with  EH –Manager, develop standard  training manuals for quarterly refreshment training for water system care takers and water technicians and water management committees for hosting community water schemes

·         Identify major gaps and training demands of water technicians and system care takers

·         Train and conduct inductions to familiarize all new personnel recruited under his direct supervision with IRC ways of working in EH sector.

 

3.        Reporting’s

·         Report progress of activities and achievements on monthly basis using necessary formats to supervisor(Camp Manager and EH Manager) before deadline

·         Collect and compile data from assistant water technicians, water technicians, and sanitation officers and will report WASH Management System (WMS) on UNHCR online reporting forms.

·         Immediately reports any incidents of water supply interruptions, electromechanical equipment failures to his supervisor to find immediate solution for faced problems.

·         Check monthly balance of stocks from monthly ware house report and ensure availability of reasonable stocks of spares of critical and fast moving items

Experience Requirements

Requirements

§  University degree in civil, water resource engineering, environmental or other related field.

§  4 years of relevant experience for BSc; 2 years of relevant experience for MSc.

§  Experience in WASH in a humanitarian setting (refugee camps, rural development, or emergency response) has a plus

§  Experience of supervising skilled labor force.

§  Technical and Report writing skills

§  Competent in Windows, MS office programs, AutoCad, EPANET and/or WaterCad, email and database experience.

§  Fluency in English, spoken and written Creative, pro-active, flexible and candidates with high caliber squarely fit to this post
