Major Duties and Responsibilities of thESE postS include:

Under the general supervision of the Chief of Field Office, Afar, the incumbent contributes to project design, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of project activities, data analysis and progress reporting, including teamwork and capacity building.

  • Collects and analyzes nutrition, livelihood and early warning data for the respective regional Situation Analysis, nutrition and food security programme planning, management, monitoring and evaluation purposes. Analyzes respective regional programme implementation reports and evaluates against established programme recommendations and plans of action.  Prepares tables, graphs and other statistical data for the region (s).  Reports outcome of analysis and proposes corrective actions.
  • Undertakes ongoing visits to UNICEF project sites in the respective region(s), assesses local conditions and resources, and monitors UNICEF inputs for the nutrition and food security activities.  Communicates with local counterpart authorities on project feasibility and effectiveness including monitoring the flow of supply and non-supply assistance.
  • Undertakes follow-up action on programme implementation activities in the region(s), contributes to teamwork building, and prepares relevant reports.  Drafts changes in regional nutrition programme workplans as required.
  • Attends technical cooperation meetings, prepares notes and undertakes follow-up action and coordination related to nutrition, food security and livelihood programme implementation and monitoring for the respective region(s).
  • Assists in identification and selection of technical inputs, technical assistance, supplies and equipment, follow-up of CAGs.
  • Selects and compiles training and orientation materials for those involved in programme implementation, including donor and media visits.
  • Evaluates and analyzes financial and supply reports to ensure appropriateness of documentation, expenditures are within allotments, data is consistent with PIDB. Reports to the Supervisor and/or Head of Office the outcome of reviews.
  • Drafts relevant sections of reports (required for donors, management, annual reports, etc.)
Experience Requirements

Work Experience: Two years progressively responsible professional experience in the field of Nutrition, specifically programme design; and monitoring & evaluation.

Language Proficiency: Fluency in English and in the local working language of the duty station is required.

Nationality:    Candidates should be NATIONALS of Ethiopia.
