The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI)Vacancy Announcement Position: Communications Officer IJob Purpose: The purpose of the Research Communication Specialist position is to work closely with researchers and colleagues in Ethiopia to share and communicate knowledge generated through this research-for-development project.Key Responsibilities:• Work with the Africa RISING research teams and the ILRI Knowledge Management and Information Services to:• Using the project’s and other communication channels, document and communicate news, updates and stories from the project for wider dissemination in Ethiopia, Africa and globally• Organize and manage project information and knowledge outputs for wide access and application• Publish and disseminate project results (technical, outcomes and impacts) in various forms – print, digital, video or audio – and contributing these to the sharing platforms and tools established by the Program.• Support and facilitate internal collaboration and communication across the Project. This includes support for online tools, face to face meetings, workshops and facilitation, as needed.• Organize and facilitate country planning and learning meetings bringing together project partners.• Support networking, capacity development and other engagement activities with project partners and other actors in Ethiopia (as a specific contribution to the project’s wider alignment and scaling objectives).• Support the innovative use of information, communication and knowledge-based interventions and approaches across the project, making use of, for example, participatory communication approaches, emerging ICTs, and working with partners in these areas• Pro-actively organize the identification and dissemination of project success stories with project site coordinators and other project participants• As required, support communication, learning and dissemination activities of the Ethiopia project and its Coordinator- Duty Station: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia- Grade: 13- Monthly Base Salary: Birr 24,572 (Negotiable depending on salary history of the candidate).- Terms of appointment: This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position, initial appointment is for three year with the possibility of renewal, contingent upon individual performance and the availability of funding. The ILRI remuneration package for nationally recruited staff in Ethiopia includes very competitive salary and benefits such as life and medical insurance, offshore pension plan, etc. The ILRI campus is set in a secure, attractive campus in Addis Ababa. Dining and sports facilities are located on site.

Education
• Bachelor’s degree in communication, Knowledge Management, Journalism or related field
Skills:
• Very good knowledge of oral and written English – we want a writer/communicator
• Excellent interpersonal and networking skills in an international environment
• Self-starter able to work to agreed priorities and deliverables
• Communication and facilitation ‘generalist’ – editing, writing, policy communication, community engagement, Internet tools and skills, information management, process facilitation, reporting and administration
• Good knowledge of the agricultural development scene, key actors etc, in Ethiopia is an advantage.

Experience:
• Seven years of relevant experience in development, research, corporate or international environment
• Relevant professional certification
• Broad / specialized knowledge of methods, techniques and processes
