International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI)Vacancy Announcement Position: Research Assistant IIIJob Purpose: The purpose of this post is to support CIP- joint research with project partners on sweet potato value chain, multi location adaptive research, seed system, institutional system and OFSP product development by providing technical backstopping expert and documentation.Key Responsibilities:• Contribute for institutionalizing of OFSP within BOH, BOA and TARI system• Contribute to the development of new sustainable delivery models for scaling bio fortified sweet potato, including new partnerships and cost-effective models in a diversity of markets, production systems• Participate at multi-sectoral nutrition-agricultural platforms for sharing evidence and lessons about Orange flashed sweet potato, involve the evaluation, demonstration, promotion and dissemination of resilient orange flashed sweet potato and potato varieties• Identifies training needs, prepares, plans and implements relevant training courses and workshops• Supervising field activities, checks results of analysis and provides reports to project coordinator• Assisting in preparation of research reports and scientific publications - Duty Station: Mekelle- Job Grade: 2C- Monthly Base Salary: Birr 19,112 (Negotiable depending on experience, skill and salary history of the candidate- Terms of appointment: This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position, initial appointment is for five months with the possibility of renewal, contingent upon individual performance and the availability of funding. The ILRI remuneration package for nationally recruited staff in Ethiopia includes very competitive salary and benefits such as life and medical insurance, offshore pension plan, etc. The ILRI campus is set in a secure, attractive campus in Addis Ababa. Dining and sports facilities are located on site.

Minimum Requirements:
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy/ horticulture
Training:
• Training and expertise in data analysis using SPSS or STATA statistical software preferred

Skills:
• A highly motivated, responsible individual with the ability to use a wide range of laboratory analytical equipment
• Good leadership and management
• Effective communication in English, both written and oral
• Rigorous approach to monitoring progress of tasks
Experience:
• 5 years relevant work experience, professional certification.
