Co-hosted by Kenya and Ethiopia, it has regional or country offices and projects in East, South and Southeast Asia as well as Central, East, Southern and West Africa. www.ilri.org.Job Purpose: The animal and human health team at ILRI is embarking on exciting epidemiological research projects on food safety and control of infectious diseases in livestock in Ethiopia. To support implementation of these projects we are recruiting a highly motivated research assistant.Key Responsibilities:• Co-ordinate and participate in field work related to epidemiological surveys in different livestock species, as well as human health• Strengthen day-to day interaction with national partner institutions• Collate research outputs of national research partners and produce research outputs• Organize trainings and workshops for partner organisations, veterinarians, extension agents and farmers• Support the analysis of data generated as part of various research projects• Conduct literature reviews and support report writing- Duty Station: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia- Job Grade: 2C level 2- Monthly Base Salary: Birr 19,112 (Negotiable depending on experience, skill and salary history of the candidate.- Terms of appointment: This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position, initial appointment is for three year with the possibility of renewal, contingent upon individual performance and the availability of funding. The ILRI remuneration package for nationally recruited staff in Ethiopia includes very competitive salary and benefits such as life and medical insurance, offshore pension plan, etc. The ILRI campus is set in a secure, attractive campus in Addis Ababa. Dining and sports facilities are located on site.

- Experience: 5 years relevant work experience
Skills:
• A strong background in epidemiology or a track record in epidemiological research projects
• He/she should have proven strong quantitative skills.
• Experiences in working with NARS and clinical experience are an advantage;
• Skills and experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods and analysis;
• Research communication skills or experience with communication and popularization of scientific outputs;
• Collaborative skills, ability to work in multi-cultural teams, excellent oral and written communication skills (English);
• A sense of creativity and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Veterinarian with specialization in veterinary epidemiology
• Highly motivated, inquisitive, considerate and team player
