United Nations World Food Programme – WFP Ethiopia Vacancy Announcement Position: Logistics Officer, FT-NOAPlace of Work: GambellaKEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)1. Contribute towards the development of logistics plans and processes ensuring compliance with wider logistics policies and WFP standards and effective integration of Logistics Operations.2. Support logistics projects or operational day-to-day activities following standard processes and contributing, directly or indirectly, to the effective delivery of food assistance and/or CBT – Cash Based Transfer to beneficiaries. This includes but is not limited to transport and commodity accounting, large scale re-bagging operations for air operations, freight forwarding, fleet management and/or retailer/services provider for CBT.3. Collect and analyse data through research and networking with colleagues to recommend actions to the supervisor to improve performance of local logistics and Supply Chain operations.4. Conduct portions of financial analysis and budget reviews, drawing out insights and recommending actions to the supervisor to optimize use of available funds. Ensure effective Landside, Transport, Storage and Handling (LTSH) management including forecasts, budgets, invoice processing and unconfirmed receipts.5. Ensure the integrity of transport/retailer information, including commodity accounting in WFP systems. Prepare and maintain transport/retailer information for reporting purposes, including vendor performance evaluations,6. Guide support staff, acting as a point of referral and supporting them with analysis and queries.7. Collate data and contribute to preparation of accurate and timely reporting, supporting a WFP wide view of logistics/Supply Chain activities that enables informed decision making and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.8. Support the capacity building of WFP staff and partners for efficient and effective delivery of food assistance and/or CBT intervention to beneficiaries (i.e. through contribution to the training materials).9. Provide direct and technical supervision and guidance to Logistics staff in area of responsibilities.10. Identify and build productive relationships with logistics colleagues and staff within the area of assignment to support an integrated approach to food assistance/CBT.11. Follow emergency logistics preparedness practices to ensure WFP are able to quickly respond and deploy food and needed resources to affected areas at the onset of the crisis.12. Act in an assigned emergency response capacity as required to meet emergency food assistance needs.13. Perform other duties as assigned.

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE
• Experience coordinating service providers’ contract execution and coordination with government or NGOs counterparts in the field.
• Experience arranging supplier deliveries and the discharge of WFP vessels (rail, air, or sea).
• Experience evaluating offers and writing proposals.

- Education: Advanced University degree in Transport Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Management or other related field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.
- Experience: At least one year of postgraduate professional experience in one or more of the transportation and ancillary sectors: port operations, shipping, clearing and forwarding, air operations, large scale road/rail transport and distribution management. Proficiency in Windows (MS Word, MS Excel) and some transport tracking system experience.
- Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English. Knowledge of the local language is added advantage.
