Chemonics seeks a land policy specialist for the anticipated USAID Land Governance project in Ethiopia. The Activity’s overall objective is to assist the Government of Ethiopia (GOE), its regions and citizens, in strengthening land governance, increase incomes, reduce conflict and support well planned urbanization, thereby to contributing to the country’s transformation plan. We are seeking individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world. Educational Requirements
Bachelor's
Desired Skills
· Degree (Bachelor’s level or equivalent) in area of land administration and/or land use planning, land tenure, land administration, land use planning, land management, or other relevant field required
· Detailed knowledge of Ethiopia’s political and governance environment, land policy and legislation, rural and urban development theories and youth and women issues required;
· Demonstrated experience in working with statutory and customary tenure and customary legal frameworks, and defining mechanisms for resolution of land disputes (ex. non-judicial arbitration and mediation mechanisms) required;
· Experience proposing reforms to improve land tenure security and property rights of farmers, pastoralists and others living in peri-urban and urban areas required;
· Experience working in donor funded projects of similar scope and budget;
Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity.
