WHO - World Health OrganizationVacancy Announcement Position: NPO - Public Health and Environment- Grade: NO-C- Contractual Arrangement: Individual service contractor- Contract duration: 12 Months- Closing Date: Oct 5, 2018, 12:59:00 AM- Primary Location: Ethiopia-Addis Ababa.Main duties and ResponsibilitiesUnder the overall supervision of WHO CDS Team Leader and direct supervision of PHE program area Coordinator, the incumbent shall perform the following duties;• Organizes and coordinates activities across stakeholders on climate change and Health including sectors working health for early warning and surveillance including use climate information for health • Ensures provision of technical support for activities that contribute towards project outcomes and outputs, either directly or through provision of support to the work of WHO in public health and environment• Undertake rapid assessment to identify gaps and area of improvement Early warning and surveillance of climate sensitive diseases; WASH and other environmental health • Develop guidelines, training manuals, protocol and framework and reporting formats for early warning and surveillance of climate sensitive diseases; WASH and Other environmental health• Ensures fulfillment of project monitoring and reporting requirements, including contribute to the design, and monitoring of quantitative and qualitative data to measure progress in implementing the project of climate change and health• Contributes to the further development of the programme of the WHO country Office on climate change and health.• Contribute to overall climate resilient water safety plans, household water treatment and safe storage, WASH in health care facilities, • Performs any other tasks as assigned by supervisors.Additional Information• A written test and interviews may be used as a form of screening• Other similar positions at the same level may be filled from this vacancy notice.• WHO is committed to workforce diversity• The application is open to candidates of either sex. • Women are highly encouraged.• The vacancy number and date has to be quoted in the application letter.• Only candidates under serious consideration will be contacted.• Any appointment/extension of appointment is subject to WHO Staff Regulations, Staff Rules and Manual.• Applicants within government employment and/or with outstanding obligations will not be considered unless a letter of release is produced.To apply please use the following link:https://careers.who.int/careersection/ex/jobdetail.ftl?job=1804306#utm_source=unjobs&utm_medium=more_info

Qualifications and Experience
• First University degree or higher Environmental Health/, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene
• Advanced (Master) degree in the fields above; Public Health, Environmental Science and training in climate change and social determinants of health.
• At least 5 years professional experience in the field of diseases surveillance and early warning
• At least 3 years’ experience of project management, and capacity development with focus on public health, WASH and environmental health
• Experience of working in international or nongovernmental organizations, on climate change and health; WASH
Other Skills
• Excellent working knowledge of English
• Knowledge of other official UN languages would be an advantage.
• Full computer proficiency including use of standard word-processing and spread sheet software is essential.
• Experience of providing capacity building training for health and water professionals in WASH, early warning and surveillance; developing guidelines, protocols, framework and strategies in public health and WASH
• Substantial experience of working in collaboration with National Ministries, Non-Governmental, and other UN Organizations;
• Experience of the procedures and practices of the World Health Organization.
• Experience in the policy development processes associated with environment, WASH and sustainable development issues;
• Experience in the design and analysis of health intervention trials
• Experience in use of computer software such as SPSS statistical software and Epi info
