Research Management Coordinator - Value Chain
The International Potato Center (CIP)Vacancy Announcement Position: Research Management Coordinator - Value Chain Job Purpose: The Research Management Coordinator - Value Chain will work as part of a team on an integrated agriculture-nutrition-marketing project being responsible for facilitating the feasibility studies and setting up of value chains related to the marketing of fresh roots and orange-fleshed sweet potato-based processed products in three urban centers in SNNPR. The incumbent will be involved in the monitoring of progress along the entire value chain from seed multiplication to delivery to urban consumers, participating in data collection and analysis. She/he will report to the Project Manager.Main Responsibilities:• Collaborate in the design and manage the day-to-day activities involved with the development of sweet potato value chains for enhancing the marketing of fresh roots and processed products using orange-fleshed sweet potato as an ingredient;• Collaborate in the development and implementation of training programs in Amharic and English relevant to the project;• Contribute to the ongoing identification and resolution of bottlenecks along the entire value chain, including multiplication, production, harvesting, storage and processing of sweet potato;• Supervise the collection and analysis of data relevant to monitoring value chain progress and the writing of progress reports;• Facilitate the design and implementation of activities by stakeholders;• Collaborate in studies for product development, paying particular attention to engaging women, men and youth;• Participate in the implementation of the end line impact study and supervise field teams in data collection and processing;• Guide and supervise a Research Assistants in conducting value chain-related activities;• Receive and evaluate biweekly reports submitted by the Research Assistants;• Assist the project manager in linking the project to relevant public organizations in SNNPR and Ethiopia;• Submit updated activity reports to the project manager on a biweekly basis;• Participate in the analysis and writing of at least one research publication a year;• Participate in the writing of at least one communication output per year (brief, newspaper article, etc.);• Participate in the Marketing, Processing and Utilization Community of Practice technical group;• Support the project manager in staff supervision and relations with government officials;• Contributes to fundraising activities through project development.- Grade: 17- Duty Station: Hawassa, Ethiopia- Terms of appointment: This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position, initial appointment is for two years with the possibility of renewal, contingent upon individual performance and the availability of funding.
