British Council Ethiopia Vacancy Announcement Position Title: Office Assistant/ Driver- Duty Station: Assosa- Terms of contract: Fixed Term Contract (2.5 years)Brief description of the role:• Delivery and collection of documents and other Items from organisations in Addis Ababa and other locations in Ethiopia• Assistance in managing protocols for document clearance (customs, for example)• Maintaining vehicle logs and ensuring vehicles are fully equipped with required documents and supplies, including first aid kits, fire extinguishers and vehicle maintenance and repair equipment• Ensuring proper and timely maintenance of assigned vehicles, Including minor repairs and being responsible for maintenance plans and reports.• Ensuring vehicles are always in good and serviceable condition: regular checks of oil, water, brake fluid, tyre pressure, battery levels, headlights, etc.• Use all available information (including current radio news on traffic conditions) to update knowledge of road and traffic conditions, current passable routes and locations, and shares information with other drivers.• Ensuring appropriate security checks In line with guidance provided in security training and being alert to security threats at all times.• Planning vehicle service and ensuring regional/central business units Informed to ensure transport service planning• Processing vehicle service in consultation with Programme• Management Team, Addis Ababa• Ensuring timely and accurate hand over of vehicles (checklists completed, etc.)• Immediately reports all involvements of protect vehicles in accidents, including minor accidents, damage, loss and theft of vehicle fittings.• Proactive follow-up on protocol issues with the central and regional offices and other partners and government agencies• Maintain general office cleaning and manage designated logistics stocks• Manage simple administrative and accounting activities with support of other programme staff such as finance, grants and hub teams.• Support procurement activities such as collection of quotations to British Council standards, deliver purchase order and transport items from warehouse and suppliers as assigned CSSP2 Operation Manager.• Support the supply and maintenance of communications (postal services, telephone and internet services)• Support to accommodation and logistical bookings for staff, ad hoc guests, workshops and other events
