The International Potato Center - Ethiopia (CIP) The International Potato Center - Ethiopia (CIP)Vacancy AnnouncementPosition: Research Officer I/AgronomistMain Duties and Responsibilities• Contributes to the planning, design and implementation of the development and delivery of orange fleshed sweetpotato (OFSP) at scale project activities;• Collaborates with public, private, community based and NGOs to assure timely production and dissemination of quality OFSP planting materials;• Leads or assists in the design and implementation of varietal selection system using proven participatory approaches such as Mother-Baby-Trial;• Conducts and facilitates trials including data gathering, organization and analysis, and field validation related to sweetpotato research and outreach activities;• Documents successes, constraints and lessons learnt in scaling up good agronomic practices in OFSP seed systems and root production;• Organizes meetings with various stakeholders and partners to discuss, streamlines and implements sweetpotato research, technology dissemination and capacity building activities;• Develops and maintains networks of partners including innovation, dissemination and research platforms related to sweetpotato research and extension;• Actively participates in farmer organization with an aim of integrating OFSP into the formal market;• Contributes to the monitoring activities and report preparation for the DDBIO program, as well as publications and presentations related to sweetpotato research, dissemination and capacity building activities;• Participates in capacity building of public, private, community based and NGO sectors’ extension and development agents;• Supports OFSP processing, product development and marketing initiatives in eastern and southern Ethiopia;• Any other duty as assigned by the supervisor.- Position level: HG 13- Duty Station: Haramaya, Eastern Ethiopia- Terms of appointment: Initial appointment is for two years which will be renewable based on performance and funding availability.
