UNOAU - United Nations Office to the African Union Vacancy Announcement Position: INFORMATION ANALYST, POLITICAL AFFAIRS, P3- Duty Station: Addis Ababa - Deadline: 03 October 2018- Job Opening Number:18-Political Affairs-UNOAU-104051-F-Addis Ababa (M)ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of the Deputy Head of Office and Director for Political Affairs, the incumbent will be responsible for the following:•Manage (research, collect, coordinate and analyze) information as a basis for enhanced planning and decision-making by the Senior Leadership; •Maintain ongoing understanding of developments/events relevant for the implementation of the Office mandate through monitoring and collection of data/information from multiple sources, including: products and reports of UNOAU components; UNHQ materials; AU products and communications; information from UN country team, NGOs and other key stakeholders;•Contribute to the drafting of code cables, weekly and monthly situation reports, analytical products and briefing materials in coordination with relevant Office components;•Identify potential research and analysis topics, and trends; and produce forecasts and analysis in coordination with Office components and subject-matter experts;•Offer analytical contributions to UNOAU Bulletin; •Maintain a system for classifying and storing information, and preserving institutional memory in collaboration with Office components and leadership;•Ensure appropriate follow-up and coordination with Office components to formulate responses, as appropriate, to matters requiring attention or intervention by Office leadership. •Perform other duties and planning tasks as required.AssessmentPreviously rostered candidates are not subject to any further assessment and as such, will not be invited for such an assessment.To apply please use the following link:https://careers.un.org/lbw/jobdetail.aspx?id=104051#utm_source=unjobs&utm_medium=more_info

Education
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in political science, international relations, foreign affairs, law or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in intelligence or information analysis, political science, international relations, journalism, development, security (military or police) or related field is required. Experience in outreach, facilitation, analysis and reporting is required. Experience working in a conflict or post-conflict setting is required. Experience in research, information analysis and drafting of analytical products is desirable. Prior experience dealing with African political affairs is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of a second UN official language is desirable.
